Wayne Kysor

Wayne was from Mayville, New York but began his radio career in Bellefontaine, Ohio at WTOO in 1967. He moved to Florida’s West Coast in 1969 and worked at a station in Bradenton before becoming Program Director at Tampa country station WHBO.

In 1971 Wayne joined WPLA on a part-time basis from Tampa’s WQYK. For a couple years, he worked at both stations, but by 1973 had decided that Plant City was where he wanted to work full time. He stayed with WPLA for almost ten more years before health concerns forced him to leave.

Wayne and his wife, Mary, lived in Tampa with their four children, Wayne II, Diana Lynn, Bobbi, and Richard. Wayne passed away in 2002.
