Kevin MacKenzie

Kevin started his radio career at WPLA in Plant City in 1971 while still in high school, taking over the Sunday morning shift, and went on to work in Lakeland at WONN and WVFM, and Tampa’s WINQ. He returned to WPLA in 1984 to do middays, and was instrumental in the implementation of the station’s southern gospel music format a couple years later.

By the early to mid 1990’s, he was on the air-staff of Lakeland Christian FM WCIE until the station was sold by Carpenter’s Home Church to Moody Bible Institute. In 1996, when the church bought Auburndale’s WTWB, he was appointed program director, and stayed until it flipped to an LMA’d news/talk format nine years later. He also performed semi-professionally for seven years as a vocalist in several Christian bands.

Today (2010), Kevin is retired from radio and serves as communications director at First Baptist Church of Midway in Plant City.
