Al Brock

Al (Dave Johnson) got his start in radio in 1969 at the age of 13 at Zephyrhills’ WPAS. In 1972 he added part-time work at WPLA in Plant City, then moved to Lakeland’s WQPD for three years, pulled a brief stint at WWKE in Ocala in 1974, and then landed back in Lakeland at WONN in 1975. From there, he made the leap into Tampa Bay major market radio with WQYK.

From 1976 to 1980, he was heard on WLCY, Y95, Q105, and WDAE. In 1980 he became a program director and has since worked in Orlando, Tallahassee, Norfolk, Des Moines, Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA, Springfield, MA and Richmond, VA. He’s been PD at Clear Channel’s B101 WWBB in Providence RI, programmed a six station cluster in Binghamton, NY, was PD at KLOU in St. Louis, OM at Cumulus/Myrtle Beach, and PD at Nashville’s Oldies 97.1 WRQQ and Citadel’s country WIOV-FM in the Reading, PA area.

Today (2011) Al works from home doing independent record promotion for his newly launched company, Spin Doctors Promotions.
