Jack Rushing

Jack was a hometown boy who attended Plant City High School. As a DCT student there, he was already making the “police beat” for WPLA News before he graduated from high school.

When Jack joined the station in 1952, he was primarily a deejay, hosting a show called Saturday Swing Time. Later, he transferred to the News Department and worked his way up to News Director.

Jack continued to work at WPLA until the early 1990’s and passed away November 28, 2016 at the age of 79.
