Ken Shroyer

Ken was originally from New Philadelphia, Ohio, and moved to Lakeland in 1954 as program director and announcer for WBAR in Bartow. He switched to Plant City’s WPLA in 1958 where he did traffic and deejay work. In 1960 he changed careers, taking an entry level position with the Florida National Bank in Lakeland, and was a trust officer there at the time of his retirement in 1984.

For many years, Ken was the voice for Polk County’s Imperial Symphony Orchestra and, in that capacity, stayed in touch with the broadcasting business. He passed away from heart failure at his home in Lakeland on August 10, 2007 at the age of 81.
