Don Wallis
Don (Dave Bowers) worked in the New York area in the 1960’s and early 1970’s under a variety of on-air names – Dave Evans, Jim Madison, Bill Edwards. Dave Prescott, and…Don Wallis. Plant City’s WPLA was the first to feel the effects of The Don Wallis Experience (as he called his show) in the spring of 1973 after he moved to Florida.
The following year, the talented deejay was heard by WQYK and hired away to do morning drive. A short stint at WGGG in Gainesville was followed by two years at Q105 WRBQ, Tampa Bay’s dominant Top 40 station. That gig turned out to be his last job in radio. Since leaving the area in 1977, he’s worked outside broadcasting as a nightclub deejay, auto dealership manager, and marketing consultant.
Today (2014), Don hosts The David Bowers Awards, an online music and artist interviews show on BlogTalkRadio.com.
